What are we protecting against?
In security, the bad guys only have to be right once. It only takes a single hole to let them in. The good guys have to be right every single time. That’s a significant challenge. Bad guys have trillions of dollars (we know because it’s all in Bitcoin), and they move quickly. The MSSP is a layered approach - whether we're layering on a vCISO to manage the process in Fundamentals or an entire Written Information Security Program in Standard and Full, we're doing much more here than ‘installing something and calling it good’. Security requires layers (called Defense In Depth) to deal with the unknown and the constantly changing bad guys.
What’s the value for the money?
For Fundamentals, $500/month is less than two total hours of security time, and we spend quite a bit more doing even the basics of the annual report and insurance forms. We think the presence of a vCISO, direct line to security, access to enhanced (and continually updated) tools and configurations are worth dramatically more than that. For Standard, there’s a lot of work that goes into forms, the WISP, and writing policies. Combine that with the tabletops, and even more vCISO time, and we’re still budgeting this at a roughly 20-30% discount on security time. This is how we make sure nothing falls between the cracks. For Full, let's talk! Those are more rare and likely dictated by compliance.
What is required?
You must have Endsight’s EECP, DNS Filter, and Phishing testing/training. All are billed in addition to the MSSP consulting agreement
Do I have to have all the tools?
Yes. To offer these levels of discount, security has to have all our tools running (EECP, DNS, Phish). Those are billed separately. All are extremely robust industry standard tools, and as an MSSP client, you’ll have access to our most cutting edge configurations and standards.
Can I get access to those configs and standards without MSSP?
No. This is an important point. We include things in the MSSP that could never scale to MSP level. There’s a significant amount of lockdown available in 365, application blacklisting in EECP, an entire Written Information Security Program (WISP), and reporting that require a higher level of client touch and support skill. These are only available to MSSP clients.
What’s the contract length?
One year.
